Abstract: The crown-block heave compensation device is a widely used type of drill string compensation apparatus. This paper explains the working principle of the crown-block heave compensation device, introduces well-known manufacturers of such devices and their applications on drilling platforms, summarizes and analyzes the status of domestic research on the device, and proposes key areas for its development. The findings aim to provide references for subsequent research on crown-block heave compensation devices in China.
