Integrated CAD/CAE Design Platform for High-Speed Rolling Stock Wheels

Abstract
For high-speed train set, the wheel is a critical component of the bogie and plays a key role in ensuring the safe operation of the train. To address the issues of low efficiency, long design cycles, and inconsistent quality in traditional wheel design, this paper proposes a general wheel performance design method based on CAD/CAE integration technology. First, a CAD/CAE integrated design platform for high-speed rolling stock wheels was developed using Visual Basic as the foundation. Then, SolidWorks was employed to build the 3D wheel model, which was subsequently imported into ANSYS Workbench for strength and fatigue life analysis. Case study results show that the platform enables parametric CAD modeling of high-speed rolling stock wheels and supports integrated CAE analysis of wheelset load-bearing strength, interference fit strength between wheel and axle, wheel-rail contact strength, and wheel fatigue life. The research provides a user-friendly and fully functional professional CAD/CAE integrated development tool for high-speed train set design, capable of efficiently completing comprehensive wheelset design with high design efficiency, versatility, and practical value.
