Integrated CAD/CAE Design Platform for High-speed Rolling Stock Wheels

  • As far as high-speed trainsets are concerned, wheels are an important component of bogies and a key component to ensure the safe operation of trains. Aiming at the problems of low efficiency, long cycle time, and difficult to ensure the quality of traditional wheel design, a universal design method of wheel performance based on CAD/CAE integration technology is proposed. Firstly, a CAD/CAE integrated design platform for high-speed rolling stock wheels is developed with Visual Basic as the platform; then the 3D model of wheels is built with Solidworks; finally, the strength and fatigue life analyses of wheels are done by importing Ansys Workbench. Case analysis shows that the platform can achieve CAD parametric modelling of high-speed rolling stock wheels, and CAE integrated analysis of wheel pair bearing strength, axle compression strength, wheel-rail contact strength and wheel fatigue life. The research results provide an easy-to-operate professional CAD/CAE integrated development tool for the product development of rolling stock, and the platform can quickly complete the comprehensive design of wheel pairs, with high design efficiency, versatility and practicality.
